Jackson Parish Storm Recovery Efforts

The Jackson Parish Police Jury would like to issue the following information for parish residents impacted by the May 8, 2019 storm event:

  • For general relief information (food, water, medical, debris removal, etc.), please call #211, they will dispatch you to the correct department (including residents on private roads)
  • For residents of PARISH roads:

*  Move all storm debris to the edge of the parish road

*  Contact the Road Department to schedule a pickup: (318) 259-5661

*  The Police Jury Road Department will collect storm debris from now through June 30th

  • For residents of PRIVATE roads:

*  Please call #211 and they will dispatch you to the departments coordinated to assist you

  • If clearing your own debris:

*  Bring all vegetation and metal debris to the Solid Waste Landfill: 302 Landfill Road, Quitman, LA

*  Bring all household garbage and non-vegetative debris to your nearest solid waste bin site

Recovery Efforts made by the Jackson Parish Police Jury:

  • Extended operating hours for the Road and Solid Waste Departments
  • Additional equipment rentals to assist with debris removal
  • Our Police Jury and OEP Director are working with key personnel including the National Guard, GOHSEP (Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness), Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards, and local area first responders to coordinate the relief and cleanup efforts parish-wide
